First off, Happy Birthday
Malia!!! It sounds like you had an awesome day, and I'm glad you got your
stitches out!! Stitches are always so annoying!! What was your favorite
present that you got?
This week we had a
few cool things happen! We had a great lesson with our investigator T., and
she loves the Book of Mormon! She believes it's true and reads it all the time
which obviously makes us really happy haha. She was going to come to church
with us but got a fever so she had to stay home, but she'll be there next week!
We also met another person from china named G. this week!! She came to
church with us and is wanting to start learning!! She had only been over in
Scotland for about a week or two, and she had always wanted to visit a Christian
church, and so we told her she should come check out ours and she loved it. She
said she wants to come back as well the next week and continue learning more.
Chinese people are the best!! I might ask president if for my last couple
transfers if I can serve in chinatown haha. M. hasn't been able to meet with
us. He says that because he has 2 jobs he's really busy, but he really want's
to still meet up and learn, so we'll just have to be patient with him.
We got our moves call last night and I found
out that Elder Preece is off to serve in Newtownabbey, and my new companion is
going to be Elder Neideck!! He's from germany, so that'll be fun to have my 2nd
German companion!! I'm probably going to have to visit Germany after my
mission at some point now to see them all haha. Our ward mission leader Bro
Elkins was released yesterday, so that made me kinda sad. But Bro Hann is the
new one, and he is a pretty cool guy so hopefully we'll be able to keep things
going with him and help the ward grow a lot over the next few months!!
So I now have 4 more transfers left, which is
totally crazy!! President Brown is starting to have a lot of the zone leaders
become either district leaders or trainers, and that'll probably happen to me
either next transfer or the one after that. But then I'll be on my last area
probably! It's really weird to think that.
Well I love you all very much!! Bye!
Sunday, January 25, 2015
After that fun trip though I started getting kinda sick, and it just snowballed and got really bad after going on a few exchanges. It's just a cold I have, but it's totally floored me!! The darn cold weather of Scotland finally got to me I guess. We had to stay in on Saturday and some of Sunday night because it got so bad. Hopefully today I'll be able to go out more, but we'll wait and see. We found a new person to teach this week though! Her name is T., and she is from Hong Kong! We've taught her one lesson so far, and she absolutely loved it! She's been reading the Book of Mormon a lot as well, and she said it helps her feel peace which is so legit!! We'll see her again on tuesday this week, and so hopefully we'll get her to come out to institute on Wednesday and possibly church on Sunday!! Definitely keep her in your prayers! I can't believe, but on this Sunday we have our move's calls again! I'm kinda excited for this one, because if ever there was a good opportunity for Elder Austin and I to serve together, it was this transfer. It's about time for him to leave Dublin, and about time for my companion to leave his area, and so we totally could serve together!! We'll have to wait and see though.
Also, some more bad news. I didn't pass my second driving test, and so I don't think I'm gonna get my license. I feel like I totally wasted your money!!! It was such a bummer when I found out I didn't pass. I prepared loads for it but it just didn't work out I guess. Sorry!! I could try to sit the test again, but it would cost another 62 pounds. So I don't know if it's a good idea to risk that much money again. but I guess it's still kinda your call as to whether or not I go for it again.
Since I didn't pass, it means we also lose the car for the next week and a half until transfers, but oh well. It'll be fun to walk around in the snow! hahahaha
I do know of Alex Boye!! He is way popular over here, a lot of people like his music. He's a pretty good singer!! I don't know a whole lot on his background, but from what I do know, he sounds like a really cool guy! It's cool you went to go and see him!
Well I love you guys, hope things are all going well back home!
The famous bridge at St. Andrews
Cathedral at St. Andrews
Hitting a bucket of balls at St. Andrew
An old pier that just looks awesome!
I've totally taught a lesson to someone out on the very end of it looking across the ocean, it was sick!!
So I thought I'd let you know I'm finally gonna do some sightseeing today!! Haha we're going to tour all of St. Andrews with Bro. Elkins and then we're going to hit a bucket of balls at the driving range to finish it off! So now I'll be able to say I've golfed at St. Andrews!
We had a really good week with a big conference on this past Wednesday. It was such a good one!! We listened to talk by President Uchtdorf given to mission presidents and it was amazing!! President Uchtdorf is such a powerful speaker! It definitely inspired me to improve a lot! He talked a lot about having no fear when talking with people about the gospel, and how our faith in Christ is key in developing that level of confidence as we preach the gospel. So from that talk I've started to study loads about the atonement to try and see how I can utilize it more in my life so I can increase my faith and have more confidence as I talk with people! The only other cool thing really that happened this week was we met a man named M. who is a rugby player from Fiji, and we've started teaching him! He's actually been outside the temple in Fiji and loved it, and when he heard about Joseph Smith he says that he knew immediately that he is a prophet. We're so excited for him! We're seeing him on Tuesday again, and we'll be talking with him about baptism and preparing for it.
Malia I hope you're feeling okay!!! That looks like a nasty slice you got on your finger! I hope it heals up okay! but you know what's cool is that you and I will probably have matching scars now! I have a pretty good one on my hand from when I sliced it with a knife on accident when I was younger! that'll be kinda funny huh?
Well we're emailing a bit shorter today so we have more time to see stuff, but I love you all and hope you have a wonderful week! Bye!!
Hey! So we had a pretty good week! But first off, some bad news. I failed the driving test. Apparently I didn't look around enough every time I pulled away from a curb. Bummer. I think I want to try it one more time, most missionaries that I know of passed the second time through since they know better what to expect.
Anyways the rest of the week was good! M. our investigator is still doing well, she's going to plan on being baptized in February, when all her family can be there. She should be off the cigarettes by the end of January though, so that will be good for her! We also are going to start teaching a big Fijian guy named M. that was referred to us by the missionaries in Glenrothes, so that's exciting! I'll let you know next week how things go with him! We also had a great MLC, and came up with a pretty sweet vision for the mission, and so now we'll all be on the same page across the whole mission and things won't be as mixed up from zone to zone as they have been in the past! Some other exciting news! We got a new weight bench for our flat with about 200 pounds of weights to go with it! So I'm gonna get big!! Haha the chinatown elders moved into their new flat today, and so we just decided to move the weight bench in today as well. Hopefully I'll remember loads of good workouts to do with a weight bench and weights!! We also had a really good New Years Eve/day. New years eve we had to be inside by 6, and so we had the chinatown elders stay over, and we had chinese hotpot which was amazing!!!!! It's basically a boiling pot with loads of spices in it, and then you just throw loads of meat and veg in and pull it out with chopsticks when you want to eat it! You just start eating and keep putting stuff in the pot as you go! It was amazing, I definitely will be doing it loads when I get home!
Well I think that's it for this week, thanks dad for checking out the baseball stuff with Doug Mecham! I really appreciate that, let me know if there's anything I can do on my end to help out.
I love you all so much! You're awesome!
We had such an amazing Christmas and Boxing Day!! It was really fun just hanging out with members and relaxing a bit. We watched How to Train Your Dragon 2, which was really funny, and we're thinking of watching Frozen on New Years Day! That should be pretty good. It was so fun getting to talk to all of you!! It's crazy to see how Ethan and Malia have grown so much! You guys are all probably going to be way different when I get back home hahaha. Well aside from Christmas we had a pretty good week as well. We're teaching a woman named M., whose daughter is S. who was baptized a while back. They're both doing really well and M. is looking forward to being baptized!! She has been studying the Book of Mormon a lot, and it's been really helping her out in her life so that's really cool! Keep her in your prayers so she can be ready for her baptism sometime in January! I've also been learning loads of cool things that applies to missionary work as I've been going through the new testament. I'm in Acts chapter 20 right now, and Paul is just such a great example of a powerful missionary! It's so cool to see his example and then try to emulate it throughout the day as I talk with people. Something else we did this week was we got some good shopping in Mom! I got a SWEET suit for 49 pounds, which is a dang good deal considering it was usually like 3 times that price. It's really classy as well, so I'm quite happy about that. I also got some new shoes that will last me the rest of my mission probably. I haven't bought any new stylish clothes for when I go back home, because the sales weren't as good as we were thinking they would be, and so we are going to wait until the January sales when everything gets really cheap again. Hopefully I'll find some stuff!!
Well I want you all to know that I love you so much and hope that things are going well!! Have a good new year!!!
